What the DAM.. is a 'Kapsalon'?
A slam is often followed by chips, pizza, or delicious kebab ('delicious'.. they're only nice in Berlin). When Rotterslamming however, the drunk Dutch consumes a hairdresser. A 'kapsalon'.
This calorie bomb was born in Rotterdam, when a Cape Verdian 'kapper' (hairdresser) visited a kebab shop and consistently order a dish that involved just about everything on the menu. His dish entailed a layer of chips covered by Turkish doner meat, topped with mayonnaise or sambal (a Malaysian-like condiment), and then cheese - typically Dutch Gouda. After this mix is placed underneath a grill to melt, the whole thing is covered in salad.
The Dutchies love this multi-cultural dish, and it frequently follows a night on the tiles. Last week we managed to try this delicacy for free! It was a shamefully pleasant.
