Holy fire! Brothers in Holland! There were no balloons, but enough celebratory behaviour (hugging and smiling and slamming down some midday shots) to represent the glorious-ness of our reunion. Alex and Robert arrived on Saturday afternoon; just about enough time for some White Russians and discussions before seeing the OX4D lads from Foals performing in Amsterdam's Paradiso. Everytime I see the Whelan lads we have a hoot, and with Whitney joining us too (essentially replacing James), this was no exception.
The band were fantastic and the venue was spectacular as well. There were huge stained glass windows that fell behind the stage that accompanied the massive hall - of which Foals filled with some lovely, lovely songs! Inhaler was surprisingly notable of their set. We all did a little two step, twice, then continued our AmsterSLAM in some nearby establishments, particularly celebrating our Irishness. After spending far too much euro on Guinness and smoking far too many cigarettes (Rob, Whitters), we somehow got ourselves back to Haveneiland ('city centre' apartment naaaaaht) to continued the merriment of St. Patrick's Day/Foals/our reunion.
What the 'Dam! What a fleeting visit! My after glow of seeing the boys was slightly dampened when I realised that on Sunday they were gone (Robert had a 7 o'clock flight back to Denmark, Alex soon after), and I lost my train ticket in the midst of slamming. This led to a 50eur fine on the train, and some hungover homesickness. Additionally, Rickerty Rick, my infamous spare bicycle, has been stolen!
Cheers for the photo of Foals Whitney, and shout out Kimbo and her video.
