A Night At The Museum

'Museumnacht' is an event in Rotterdam whereby a large amount of the cultural houses in the city open up to the public.. AT NIGHT. As well as showing their usual exhibitions, the evening holds a theme for the whole city to endorse themselves in. This year's theme was 'Waterlanders' (waterworks), and each museum utilised this in a different way.

My pal van Dijke and I volunteered at the event (yes for free ticket and a goody bag), giving out the Museumnacht buttons - essentially visible tickets. However, before our shift began we went on a culture quest. Out of all the museums to see (50!), the Kunsthal had a particularly memorable exhibition on about Dutch furniture company Pastoe. Apparently, a lad from Utrecht combined his vision of architecture and humans to make some comfortable seats. We had a decent sit down. This exhibit was usual for the art house though, so as an extra addition for the special night they featured a performance from Tim Knol, a Dutchie renowned for his pleasant music and roundness (seriously!). Museum Rotterdam showcased a BALLPIT, Tango lessons, a REAL LIFE ERASMUS (it wasn't him, in fact I'm certain this chap had a pair of Specsavers' frames on - got a photo regardless, see below), and 'Tear Jerking' karaoke.

Bar the karaoke, it was questionable where all the water came into light at this mad place, or the Kunsthal... but it was a hoot to explore them in the evening hours nevertheless!

What the DAM!...I've ran out of English tea bags (this is an appeal for somebody to send some to Rotterdam, please),
and I miss The Big Issue.
